Ethiopia Records 67 New Covid Cases, 0 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – The ministry of health has reported 67 more Covid-19 infections on Friday as Ethiopia sees zero fatalities for six days in a row.
The new infections, the highest daily total recorded since March 15, were confirmed from 5, 172 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, says the ministry of health update.
The Covid-19 death toll stay the same at 7, 509 after recording no related fatalities in the reported period.
This has extended the number of consecutive days without Covid-induced fatality to six.
The report, however, indicates only 7 patients have recovered from the disease while severe cases increased by 3 as compared to the previous day.
The nation has 9, 105 confirmed active cases. Of which, 20 seriously ill, health officials report.
– Vaccine Drive at standstill –
They have not reported any additional data on the Covid vaccine drive as the vaccination pace continues to stall.
Ethiopia has administered over 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. Over 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the virus.
The nationwide vaccination campaign started a year after health officials reported Ethiopia’s first Coronavirus case in March, 2020.
Since then, the country has confirmed 470, 232 cases. About 453, 616 of these patients have already recovered, as per the data from the ministry.
