Ethiopia Confirms 359 New COVID-19 Cases, 11 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Ethiopia has reached nearly  97, 000 after the ministry of health reported 359  more infections on Monday.

The new positive cases are identified from nearly 6, 000 tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours, according to the Ministry of Health.



In its daily Covid-19 report, the ministry indicated 11 more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the total number of people who passed away due to the virus to 1, 489.

Today’s report also shows an increase in the number of hospitalization after at least 353 patients have become severely ill. This figure has jumped by 17 when compared to the previous day.

The country currently has nearly 43, 481 active cases.

The report also shows that at least 953 patients have recovered from the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus. To date, more than 54, 405 patients have regained their health after contracting the virus.

The East African nation confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Since then, it has tested nearly 1.5 million people for the virus and confirmed 96, 942 cases.
