Ethiopia Records Nearly 800 More Covid-19 Cases over the Weekend

ADDIS ABEBA  – Ethiopia has registered 794 more COVID-19 infections in total over the weekend,  taking the total number of confirmed cases to more than 96, 500.

The country tested a total of more than 12, 200 individuals to identify the new positive cases over the past forty-eight hours, data from the ministry of health shows.



A further 14 people have also passed away due to the virus between Saturday and Sunda, pushing the death toll to 1, 478.

The country now has over 41, 600 active cases. Of these, health officials said 336 patients are severely ill and are being treated in covid medical centers.

More than 1, 700 patients of COVID-19 have regained their health in the past two days after contracting the coronavirus that causes the deadly respiratory disease, according to the Ministry. To date,  53  452 people recovered from the disease.

The East African nation reported its first coronavirus case on March 13. Since then, health officials have reported 96, 583 cases after conducting over 1.48 million laboratory tests.
