Ethiopia Records 976 New COVID-19 Cases, 15 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 976 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the past twenty-four hours, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

During the period, the country has tested 19 449 people tested for the virus to identify the latest cases, according to the Ministry.

A further 15 patients of COVID-19 have died within the reported period, it added.

The country currently has nearly 37, 000 active cases. Of these, 309 patients are in serious condition and are receiving treatment in health facilities, said the ministry.

Health officials also reported at least 482 patients have recovered from the disease during the reported period taking the total number of recoveries to 21, 789.

The East African nation has been increasing the number of tests it is conducting, particularly in areas with local outbreaks since the beginning of August. To date, the nation tested 1, 063, 454 people and confirmed  59, 648 cases including 933 deaths.
