ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 584 new COVID 19 infections on Tuesday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to more than 24, 000
Country’s Ministry of Health said the new patients identified after 11, 881 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
During the same period, the Ministry said 20 people have died as a result of COVID-19 – a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.
The latest fatality figure takes the death toll in the country to 440, according to the daily report of the Ministry.
COVID-19 hospitals are also witnessing the rise in the number of patients in severe conditions. Today’s report shows their number has increased from 167 on Monday to 190 on Tuesday.
The ministry also reported at least 285 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the tally to 10, 696.
The East African country has now 13, 037 active cases.
Since the first case reported in mid-March, Ethiopia has tested 520, 891 individuals for the virus and confirmed 24, 176.
