Coronavirus: Ethiopia Reports 174 More Cases, 6 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 174 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Thursday, bringing the confirmed infections tally to 370, 886.

At least 7, 355 people have been tested in the last twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, says the ministry of health in its daily report.

The country has also recorded six additional Coronavirus-induced deaths and 187 recoveries in the reprted period, pushing the death toll to 6, 714 and recoveries tally to 347, 873.

Currently, there are 227 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving medical treatments nationwide, claims the report that puts the confirmed active cases tally at 16, 297.

Health officials are currently carrying out a national vaccination campaign as part of the government’s response to stop the spread of the pandemic

To date, Ethiopia has provided nearly 7.5 million doses of Covid vaccine to its citizens. Of which, close 590, 000 doses have been administered in the last twenty-four hours, data from ministry shows.

The East African nation started offering the vaccine to the public on March 13, 2021. Since then, it has fully vaccinated more than 6 million people against the Covid-19.
