ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has identified six new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the total number confirmed cases to 35.
This number of confirmed cases is the highest for one day so far in Ethiopia where 74 samples have been tested in the past 2 4 hours.
Minister of health Dr. Lia Tadese said all the six confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals. All but one are also residents of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, and the other from Dire Dawa city.
The first two cases from Addis Ababa, who are 35 and 30-years-old men, have a travel history to Dubai late last month, according to Ministry of Health report.
The 33 year old female patient from Dire Dawa and 28 year old male form Addis Ababa had contact with previously confirmed cases.
Officials are also investigating how the remaining two, who didn’t have travel history, tested positive for COVID-19.
Except two, all the confirmed cases in the country are doing well.
The two patients are still under intensive care unit, said the ministry.
Dr. Lia advised the public “to avoid any mass gathering, to apply all precaution measures such as hand washing with soap, maintaining physical distancing (at least a meter)”.
