Senegal’s President Sall in Addis Ababa to Attend New Gov’t Inauguration

ADDIS ABABA – President of Senegal, Macky Sall, has arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the inaugural ceremony of the new government in Ethiopia on Monday.

The president was accorded a warm welcome by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other senior government officials upon his arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

“Pleased to welcome to Ethiopia my brother Macky Sall, President of Senegal,” said PM Abiy in a brief message on his twitter page.

The two leaders last met a few weeks ago in Senegalese capital, Dakar where they discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

Apart from Sall, several leaders of African nations and regional institutions are expected to attend the inaugural ceremony of the new government in Ethiopia.

Nigeria has already confirmed its President, Muhammadu Buhari, would attend the inauguration in the Capital.

Prime Minister Abiy’s Prosperity Party secured a landslide victory in the June 21 parliamentary election, giving him, the chairman of the party, a five-year term in office.
