Covid: Ethiopia Records 14 New Cases, 33 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 14 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Sunday, bringing the confirmed cases tally to 469, 184.

Nearly 3000 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the positive cases, the ministry of health report says.

The nation has also recorded one more Coronavirus-induced death in the reported period. The death toll now stands at 7,486.

Meanwhile, only 33 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, pushing the recovery count to 421,472.

Currently, there are 40,224 confirmed active cases in the country. Of which, 54 patients are seriously sick, the report notes.

Despite the drop in the new and severe cases, health officials are still urging the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing facemasks.

They are also pushing ahead with their nationwide vaccine drive which is targeting 12 year olds and above.

In the last 24-hours alone, over 95,000 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the nation.

This has taken the total doses given to the public to more than 28.7 million. Nearly 24 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the virus, the report says.

The Ministry of health offered the first Covid vaccine in the country on March 13, 2021.
