Japan Grants $2.8mln to Support Ethiopia’s Health Sector

ADDIS ABEBA – The Government of Japan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia signed a grant agreement amounting to approximately USD 2.8 million.

The agreement was signed by Daisuke Matsunaga, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, and Admasu Nebebe, State Minister for Finance on Friday.

The grant is provided through the Economic and Social Development Program with a view to provide medical equipment to hospitals in Addis Ababa, according to the Japanese embassy in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Matsunaga said that the health sector is one of Japan’s priorities in terms of support for Ethiopia.

It will continue to provide assistance for the development of Ethiopia, particularity in the health sector, he added.

Apart from the Health sector, Japan has been actively supporting Ethiopia through various schemes in the fields of agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education, among others.
