Coronavirus: 248 More Infections, 21 Deaths Reported in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 248 more Covid-19 infections and 21 related fatalities on Monday, the Ministry of health reports.

The country identified the latest positive cases after testing 4, 743 people in the last twenty-four hours.

About 21 patients have also died due to the acute respiratory disease caused by coronavirus, claims health officials’ report. The national death toll currently stands at 6, 238.

There are now 23, 998 confirmed active cases nationwide, Of which, 601 patients are seriously sick, the report reveals.

Only 295 patients have also recuperated on Monday, taking the recovery tally to 329, 257, according to the ministry.

The East African nation confirmed its first case in March, 2021. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 359, 495 after conducting over 3.6 million tests.

Health officials are urging the public to observe the health protocols put in place to tackle the pandemic including wearing face masks while pushing ahead with its national immunization campaign.

On Monday, at least 28, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were offered to the public, data from the Ministry shows.

The ministry of health launched the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, a total of 3, 043, 537 Ethiopians have been fully inoculated against the virus.
