ADDIS ABEBA – At least seven people were killed in an attack carried out by an unknown armed group in eastern Ethiopia, Oromia communication bureau said.
Three other people were also injured in the attack that took place on Thursday morning.
The attack, which claimed the lives of a family of seven, occurred in the Gumbi Bordede Woreda, western Hararge zone of Oromia regional state.
Members of the national defense army and the federal police have already been deployed in the area and are working to restore stability, the bureau said.
The road that connects the area to Addis Abeba has been closed on Thursday. It has now open for traffic, Admassu Damte, head of the communication bureau.
“The perpetrators of the attack are now being arrested,” said Admassu.
The bureau didn’t specify the exact cause of the clashes.
