ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s new Foreign Minister Ambassador Taye Atske Selassie held discussions with the African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Ethiopia hosts the 44th ordinary session of the AU executive council and the 37th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government subsequently this week.
The AU Commission chairperson Mahamat received Foreign Minister Taye at his office for consultation ahead of the summit.
During their meeting, the AUC Chair reiterated his congratulations to Ambassador Taye on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
He further stated the importance of Ethiopia’s role in achieving security and stability in Africa.
Foreign Minister Taye, on his part, noted the long-standing relationship between Ethiopia and the AUC and renewed Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting the African Union as a member and host country.
