Ethiopian Takes Delivery of Boeing 777-2 Cargo Plane

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Airlines Group has taken delivery of a Boeing 777-200LR Freighter aircraft, taking the number of the plane type the airline operates to 10.

The freighter would further increase the Group’s Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services capacity to meet growing cargo demand around the globe.

“We are delighted to announce that we took delivery of our 10th Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft,” Ethiopian Airlines announced Tuesday.

This popular twin-engine commercial cargo plane can carry payloads of more than 100 tons, the carrier noted.

The carrier currently serves more than 130 cargo destinations around the world with both belly-hold capacity and 67 dedicated Freighters, deploying more than 140 airplanes.

The new Boeing 777-200LR Freighter would take its dedicated cargo fleet to 17.

Last year, Ethiopian carried 723,000 tons of freighters in the June-ended 2022/23 fiscal year, generating about 2 Billion US Dollars to the airline’s total $6.1 Billion annual revenue.
