ADDIS ABABA – The African Union says it will deploy an Election Observation Mission to Liberia set to hold its General Elections next week.
Liberians will go to polls on Oct 10 to elect their next president, parliamentarians, and senators.
AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat has picked former Deputy President of South Africa Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka to lead the election observers mission.
The mission, comprising 60 short-term observers including three Core Team of electoral experts, will observe the Elections from 1 to 15 October 2023.
Among others, the African Union says, the mission has an objective to assess and report on the quality of the General Elections.
