Bahir Dar City SC will play Azam Fc of Tanzania in the first round

CAF Confederation Cup: Bahir Dar Drawn against Tanzania’s Azam

Bahir Dar Sports Club will face Tanzania’s Azam FC in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The draw for the Confederation Cup preliminary stages was conducted today. Fifty-two clubs will compete in this season’s continental football club competition.

While the 12 highest-ranked clubs were exempted from the first round, the majority including Bahir Dar city, will be competing in the first preliminary stage.

Tuesday’s draw saw Bahi Dar City SC drawn against Azam FC in the round the first round.

The Bahir Dar will host the Tanzanian side in the first leg scheduled for August 18-20. The second will also be played a week later.

Should they go through, the club will play Club African of Tunisia in the second stages of the preliminaries.

Azam – a club from Dar es Salaam – play in the Tanzanian Premier League. Their rival, Young Africans were the runners in the last CAF Confederation Cup finals.

They, however, lost to USM Alger of Algeria, the current title holders, in one of the tournament’s most memorable finals.
