Fasil Kenema FC Appointed Wubetu Abate as Head Coach

ADDIS ABABA – Former Ethiopian national team coach Wubetu Abate has been confirmed as the new head coach of Fasil Kenema FC.

Wubetu has been linked with a return to his former club following his departure from the Walias.

Today, the premier league side confirmed the appointment of Wubetu as head coach at Jupiter Hotel in Addis Ababa.

Wubetu signed a three-year contract with the club which finished sixth in the last Ethiopian premier league.

The club and their new coach will soon begin preparing for a new premier league season, set to start on Oct 1, 2023.

Wubetu won the 2019 Ethiopian Cup with Fasil Kenema in his previous stint.

He also led Ethiopian Coffee to their first-ever major trophy in a decade back in 2011, leapfrogging archrivals St George to win the league title.

The former Walias trainer also managed numerous domestic sides, including Adama City, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Dedebit, Hawassa City, and Sebeta Town FC. He also enjoyed a brief stint at Sudanese outfit Al Ahli Shendi.
