ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has inaugurated Hallala Kella Resort, which is part of the national ‘Dine for Nation’ project.
The construction of the resort, which constitutes the larger Koysha project, was launched in Feb 2021.
Its inauguration on Monday was attended by Tagesse Chafo, speaker of the lower house of the Ethiopian parliament, regional chief administrators, and senior government officials.
Located in the Dawro Zone of the SNNP region, the resort is built with a design that incorporates both indigenous and modern architectural styles.
It also has presidential and modern bedrooms, facing a manmade lake behind the Gibe III Hydropower plant.
The Abiy administration introduced the Dine for the Nation initiative in August 2020 after similar projects in Addis Ababa became a reality.
The initiative managed to raise a 4.2 billion Birr fund to cover the construction cost of Koysha and two other similar projects in Wonchi and Gorgora.
Last month, the PM also announced another ‘Dine For Generations’ initiative, which is now raising funds for more tourism site development in Geralta, Hayk, Jimma, Afar, Arba Minch, and the Somali region.
Two other private investments will also see additional developments in Benishangul Gumuz and the new South West region in efforts to expand tourism, he said addressing the parliamentarians on March 28, 2023.
