Ethiopia Logs 25 Covid Cases, 81 recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 25 new cases and 81 recoveries of Covid-19 disease in the last twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report says.

The report issued on Saturday evening says the latest infections have brought the nation’s confirmed total to 492, 738.

At least 81 patients of Covid-19 have also recuperated in the reported period, taking the recovery tally to 470,998.

Currently, there are 14, 168 confirmed active cases in the country. At least 13 of these patients diagnosed with Covid-19 are severely sick and are hospitalized, the report notes.

The country has not recorded any Covid-related fatalities in the past 24 hours as the number of days without confirmed covid death extends to nine.

The acute respiratory disease caused by Coronavirus has claimed the lives of at least 7,569 people since the start of the pandemic.

As part of its response, the ministry of health is offering the covid vaccine to the public although its pace has stagnated in recent days.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 52.56 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Over 43.1 of its citizens have been fully vaccinated receiving at least two shots of the vaccine, its health officials say.

The East African nation launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign in March 2021 and plans to reach 60% immunization coverage in the last quarter of 2023.
