Ministry Reports 445 New Covid-19 Cases, Most since Jan 28

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 445 new Covid-19 infections, the highest daily count since January 28.

The nation confirmed the new infections after testing 9,585 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report shows.

The increase is the highest the ministry reported since Jan 28, during which the country logged 462 after testing 6, 336 people.

The nation’s confirmed tally has now reached 473, 188.
In the last 24-hours, only four patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, says the report that puts the recovery total at 455, 994.

Both the severe cases and deaths tallies, however, have remained stable.

Twelve Covid-19 patients who are seriously sick are still getting treatment in hospitals.

The patients are among 9, 679 confirmed active cases in the country, according to the ministry of health.

The country has not also seen any Coronavirus-induced death in the past twenty-four.

The Ministry last reported a Covid-19 fatality in Ethiopia on May 25, 2022. Sine then, the death toll has stayed at 7, 513.

The vaccination pace is still at standstill with the latest report showing no additional data regarding the vaccine offer.

Health officials, however, have a plan to roll out the third round national vaccine drive this month.

The previous two saw the Ethiopia administered close to 29.45mln doses of the Covid-19 vaccine nationwide.

Over 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus since the first vaccine shot was given in March 2021.
