Ministry Bags 33.9bln Birr Revenues In April
ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of Revenues has collected more than 33.9 billion birr in tax and non-tax revenues in April, up by over 31% as compared to the same month last year.
Tax authorities planned to collect 35.7 billion birr in the tenth month of the current fiscal year.
The ministry has managed to achieve 95% of its target after collecting a total of 33.92 billion birr, said Lake Ayalew, Revenues Minister, in his monthly report.
The total figure collected in April has shown a 31.19 % (or over 8bln birr) growth as compared to the same month last year, he added.
Much of the monthly revenue came from domestic tax, amounting more than 23.45 billion birr while export tax and customs duties contributed the remaining 10.47 billion birr.
The performance is a combined effort of the ministry of revenues and Ethiopian customs Commission and their workers, the minister said.
He has also appreciated the public in general and the federal taxpayers in particular for their continued cooperation in the tax collection effort, urging them to continue showing similar support in the rest of the FY.
In the previous three quarters of the current 2021/22 fiscal year, the ministry racked up 248.6 billion birr. Its officials plan to collect a total of 360 billion revenues this year.
