Ethiopia reports 18 Covid Cases, Zero Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the nationwide tally to 470,851, the ministry of health said.

The positive cases were identified from over 3, 700 people tested for Coronavirus in the past twenty four hours.

The nation has continued to record zero new COVID-19-induced deaths today as well. The last Coronavirus related death was confirmed over three weeks ago on April 20, 2022. The death toll remains at 7, 510.

Only 6 recoveries were also reported on the same day, bringing the total recoveries to 455, 752, health officials report said..

Ethiopia currently has 7, 587 active COVID-19 cases, of whom four are severely sick.

Health experts are still advising the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing facemasks when in crowded places.

The national vaccination pace remains at a standstill. However, health officials, who reviewed the previous two vaccines drive last week, plans to launch a third-round vaccine drive next month.

The East African nation started offering the Covid vaccine to its citizens in March, 2021. Since then, over 29.41 doses of the vaccine have been administered nationwide. More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the virus.
