Ethiopia Records 41 Covid Cases, 0 Death over the Weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 41 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and zero related death over the weekend, according to data from the Ministry of health.

The latest positive cases, identified from over 8, 500 people tested in the past 48-hours, take the confirmed total to 470,273.



The nation has not recorded a single Covid-19 related fatalities both on Saturday and Sunday.

This has extended the number of consecutive days without Covid-induced fatality to eight as the death toll remains at 7, 509.

Only 20 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the course of the two-day period. The total number of recoveries stands at 453, 636.

Twenty severely sick Covid-19 patients are still under treatment in hospital, says the latest report of the ministry on Sunday. The patients are among the 9,126 confirmed active cases.

Health experts are still advising the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing face masks when in crowded places and healthcare settings.



The vaccine drive, however, is still at a standstill.

The updates for both days show that the nation has not administered a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the entire 48-hours.

The first vaccine was given in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021. To date, the nation has provided over 29.41 million shots of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the virus, the Ministry reports.
