ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has been elected to the Executive Board of the World Food Program (WFP).
The Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the UN announced Addis Ababa’s election to the Executive Board, WFP’s supreme governing body, late on Friday.
“We look forward to contributing to the work of the world’s largest humanitarian organization in its efforts to support countries change lives in difficult circumstances all around the world, including Ethiopia,” the Mission said.
The executive body comprises 36 UN member states or UN FAO. The Board is tasked to provide intergovernmental support, policy direction and supervision of the activities of the food-assistance branch of the United Nations.
