Ethiopia Records Zero Covid Deaths Five Consecutive Days

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded zero Covid-19 disease related fatalities for five days a row, according to the ministry of health report.

The country last registered Covid-induced fatalities on April 9, during which one patient succumbed to the virus. The death toll currently stands at 7, 509, the report states.



The report also notes 14 people have tested positive from 4, 743 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours.

The fresh cases figure has brought the total of confirmed cases in the country to 470, 165.

Country’s recovery count has also reached 453, 609 after twelve Covid-19 patients regained their health in the reported period.

At least 17 severely sick patients are still getting medical treatment in hospitals.

These patients are among the 9,045 confirmed active cases in the nation, the ministry of health reports.

The Ministry conducted two rounds of nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, which increased coverage significantly.



Its pace, however, remains at a standstill in the past week with official data showing no increase in both the number of doses administered or people who got the second their vaccine shot.

Ethiopia has administered 29.41mln doses of Covid-19 vaccine, so far. Over 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
