Covid-19: Ethiopia Reports 1,043 New Cases and 1,843 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia on Saturday registered more recoveries than new cases of Covid-19 for the second day in a week.

The country has recorded 1,043 New Covid-19 infections in the last twenty-four hours, reveals a ministry of health report.

In the same period, the report says at least 1,843 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, taking the recovery tally to 373, 622.

A further 16 Coronavirus-related fatalities have also been registered, taking the death toll to 7147.

There are now 435 severely sick Covid-19 patients getting medical treatment. The patients are among 76,551 confirmed active cases in the country, according to the report.

The East African nation identified its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, 2020.

To date, it has confirmed a total of 457,322 after testing close to 4.26 million people.

Its health officials have recently been conducting a national vaccine drive.

They have, however, failed to offer a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine to the public on Sunday, according to the report.

The Ministry started giving the vaccine in Ethiopia on March 13, 2021.

Since then, it has administered over 10.96 million doses nationwide while fully vaccinating close to 9.37 million people.
