ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has today recorded zero Covid-19 disease related deaths as the daily recovery rate drops.

In its report issued on Sunday evening, the ministry of health has put the national Covid-19 death toll at 7, 509.

The Ministry has also reported more new cases than recoveries in a day since the early March.

About 25 people tested positive for the Coronavirus from nearly 3, 200 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, says the report.

At the same time, only five patients have recovered from the acute respiratory disease.

There are now 8, 969 confirmed active cases in the nation. Of these, 17 are severely sick and are receiving treatments in ICU.

– Vaccine Drive Slows down –

The Ministry conducted two rounds of nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, which increased coverage significantly.

In the past few days, however, the vaccination pace has stagnated across the country where, reports show, no shots of vaccine given in the last five days.

The report says Ethiopia has administered over 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

More than 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the virus.

The East African nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case in March, 2020. Since then, it has registered 470, 050 infections, and 453, 570 recoveries.
