Ghana Beat Ethiopia to Qualify for Costa Rica 2022
ADDIS ABABA – A final round defeat to Ghana put a halt on Ethiopia’s impressive qualification run for FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
In a return leg match that took place on Sunday afternoon, the West African nation have beaten Ethiopia 2-1.
All the three goals of the game held in Accra Sport Stadium were scored in the first half of the match.
Mesay Temesgon scored the lone goal for the Young Lucy, who played and created better than first leg match in Addis Ababa.
Salamatu Abdulai, who grabbed two goals in Abebe Bikila Stadium, also netted another brace for the Black Princess.
The 5-1 aggregate defeat marked the end of the road for the Ethiopian national team’s impressive journey in the qualification.
Ghana, on the other hand, confirmed their sixth consecutive qualification to the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Ghana will represent Africa on the global stage along with Nigeria who qualified in Benin City on Saturday, thrashing Senegal 7-2 on aggregate.
