Former President of Gambella Region Passes away

ADDIS ABABA – Okello Gnigelo, former president of Ethiopia’s Gambella regional State, has passed away.

The region’s Secretariat Office report said Okello has died due to unspecified health problems on Monday.

Okello served as a third president of the region for about seven years beginning 1997.

He was survived by three sons and one daughter. His funeral took place on Tuesday with senior government officials and his families in attendance, according to the Office.

Okello was 58 years-old.
