Authority inaugurates Nine Road Projects in Addis Ababa
ADDIS ABABA – Roads Authority Addis Ababa inaugurated a dozen of projects including nine new roads, built at an outlay of over 1.9 billion birr.
The projects, including 9 asphalt roads, 2 parking lots and sidewalks, were inaugurated by city Mayor Adanch Abiebie and deputy-mayor Jantirar Abay on Sunday morning
The Authority’s construction wing carried out eight of the total projects including the parking lots. Private firms constructed the remaining five.
Without including the parking lots and sidewalks, the Authority said the total length of the newly inaugurated roads are 19.12 km and are 13- 60 meters wide.
The road stretching from Garment to Jemo Square which is named after Artist Hachalu Hundesa, is the longest of all having 4.5km length and 120m width and has a bicycle lane.
The CMC Michael Crossing Bridge is the shortest with 680m length and 30m wide.
According to the Authority, the two parking lots built on a 9,600 square meters area at Entoto have a combined parking capacity of 321 cars while the total length of sidewalks stretches for 11.8km.
