Covid: Ethiopia Records 53 More Cases, 457 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 53 additional Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Monday, bringing the national confirmed cases tally to 468, 727.

Nearly 4,400 people have been tested in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest infections, says the ministry of health in its daily report.



The nation has also recorded two more Coronavirus-induced fatalities in the reported period.
Its Covid-19 death toll now stands at 7,462.

The report also says as many as 457 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the same day, pushing the recovery count 417, 161.

There are still more than 44, 100 confirmed active cases in the country. Of which, 86 patients are seriously sick, the Ministry reports.

Despite the recent drop in the daily infections and severe cases, health officials have continued to urge the public to be vigilant and observe the Covid protocol put in place.



They are also pushing ahead with their nationwide vaccine drive which is targeting 12 year olds and above.

In the past 24-hours alone, a total of 285, 343 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the nation, the report indicates.

This has taken the total doses given to the public, so far, to nearly 24.3 million.

Close to 20 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated, the report says. The East African nations started to offer the Covid vaccine to its citizens on March 13, 2021.
