Covid: Health Ministry Reports 34 New Cases, 2 fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has today recorded 34 more Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases as more people continue to get their first vaccine shot.

Today’s Ministry of health report indicates that the new infections, identified from 4,204 tests conducted in the past 24-hours, takes confirmed cases total to 468, 379.

A further two Coronavirus-induced fatalities have also been registered in the same period, says the report that the puts death toll at 7, 440.

There are still 120 seriously sick patients getting treatment for the acute respiratory disease, says the Ministry’s report.

The patients are among 51, 133 confirmed active cases that exist in the East African nation.

The report also says 129 patients Covid-19 have recuperated within the 24-hours period, bringing the recovery count to 409, 804.

Despite the recent drop in the daily infections, health officials are still urging the public to be vigilant and observe the Covid protocol.

They are also pushing ahead with their recently launched second round vaccine drive that is targeting 12 year old and above.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 19.3 million doses of Covid vaccine.

Nearly 16 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated, reports the ministry, which started offering the Covid-19 vaccine on March 13, 2021.
