ADDIS ABABA – At least 3, 406 Covid-19 patients have recuperated in the past twenty-four hours in Ethiopia while 10 others passed away, according to a ministry of health report.
The national recovery total currently stands at 408, 613, says the report.
It also says the national Covid fatality tally has reached 7,407 after the 10 patients passed away due to the acute respiratory disease on Thursday.
The East African nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case in March 2020. Since then, it has identified 467, 136 infections from 4.4 million tests conducted.
At least 152 of them have been recorded in the past twenty-four hours, says the Ministry.
There are now 51,131 active cases nationwide. Of which, 188 are seriously sick patients, the report indicates.
Despite a decreasing infection rate in the past few weeks, health officials have continued to urge people to observe the Covid protocols to protect themselves and their loved ones.
They are also carrying out a nationwide vaccine drive although it’s pace has become stagnant in the past few weeks.
The country, which began offering the vaccine to its citizens on March 13 last year, has administered over 10.97 doses of Covid-19 vaccine and fully vaccinated nearly 9.4 million people.
