Ethiopia Reports 1,723 New Covid Cases, 14 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 1,723 new Covid-19 cases and 14 related fatalities on Saturday, reveals a ministry of health report.
The latest positive cases, identified out of 9,168 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, has brought the national confirmed cases count to 456, 279.
The East African nation also recorded 14 more Covid-related fatalities in the reported period, bringing the national death toll to 7,131.
Currently, there are 77,367 active cases in the country, at least 426 of them are severely sick and are getting medical attention, according to the report.
As many as 1,313 patients of acute respiratory disease have recuperated today, taking the recovery tally to 371,779.
The Ministry of Health is still urging the public to observe the health protocol put in place to prevent themselves from the disease as they push ahead with their vaccine drive.
In the last 24-hours period, more than 4,500 doses Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public in Ethiopia – the highest conducted in a days this week.
The figure has taken the tally of doses administered to 10, 956, 020 while nearly 9.37 million people immunized fully.
Ethiopia started offering the Covid-19 vaccine in Ethiopia on March 13 last year – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
