Over 2, 800 litres of Fuel Seized from Smugglers in Somali Region

ADDIS ABABA- Authorities in Somali region foiled attempt to smuggle more than 2,800 litres fuel out of Eastern Ethiopia.



In a statement Friday, the region’s communication office announced that trade and transport bureau’s inspection officers intercepted 2, 820 litres fuel from smugglers.

The fuel was being transported from the Jigjiga to Somaliland inside a public bus, it said.

Jigjiga City and other towns of Somali region have recently been experiencing fuel shortages.



The communication office blamed illegal fuel trade as major cause for the shortage.

The office urged the public to continue supporting the government ’s stop illegal fuel trade.
