Federal Police Signs Agreement for Rehabilitation Center Construction

ADDIS ABABA – Federal Police Commission has signed an agreement with a state-run Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) for the construction of a new rehabilitation centre for its wounded officers.

The agreement was signed between Commissioner Gen Demelash Gebremichael and CEO of the Corporation Yonas Ayalew on Monday at the headquarters of the Federal Police Commission.

The centre will be built in the premises of the former Fetno Derash training center in Kolfe-Keranio Sub-city of Addis Ababa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Gen Demelash said members of the federal police have been making sacrifices while carrying out their national duty on various fronts.

Those who sustained injuries on duty, after receiving treatment at the Police Hospital, do not have access to rehabilitate themselves back to full operational health, according to the Commissioner.

The commission and the ECWC are now taking responsibility for building the rehabilitation center befitting of their contribution in defending their country, Gen Demelash added.

The center, which will rest on a 64,000sqm plot of land, will house treatment rooms, gymnasium, carpentry and metal workshops, cafeteria, swimming pool and other facilities.

It’s construction is scheduled to be completed this year, said the Commission, adding the center will serve for members of both federal and regional police forces.
