Fed Govt Collects 70.6 Billion Birr in Revenues in Q2

ADDIS ABABA – The government has managed to collect 70.6 billion Birr in revenues from tax and non-tax sources as well as loans and grants in the second quarter of the 2021/22 Fiscal year, achieving 89.3% of its target.

“A great deal of efforts have been made to achieve the planned revenue collection from domestic and development partners,” said the Ministry of Finance following a meeting that reviewed its 100-day performance.

The accomplishment has been good, the ministry added.

Since the start of the second quarter, the country has received a total of $364 million in the form of loans and grants from multilateral and bilateral sources.

The public enterprises have been able to generate 3.8 billion birr revenue, according to the ministry.

In the same period, the federal government’s expenditure has reached 73.3 billion birr in the second quarter.

In addition to the 33.6 billion birr dispersed to the regions, the ministry said a total of 106.9 billion Birr payment has been made during the second quarter.

Accordingly, the revenues gained during the period have been spent properly on areas that the government gave due priorities, the ministry said, describing its fiscal administration as healthy.
