Ethiopia Allocates 5bln Birr Fund to Rehabilitate Conflict-Affected Communities
ADDIS ABABA – Five billion Birr supplementary budget has been allocated to rehabilitate the conflict-affected communities in northern Ethiopia, announced the Ministry of Finance on Monday.
The Ministry, which chairs government’s Rehabilitation Secretarial Executive Committee has already sent the budget proposal to the Council of Ministers.
The Council is expected to endorse the additional budget and direct it to the parliament for final approval.
The rehabilitation program will began as soon as the budget gets parliamentary approval, said Finance Minister Ahmed Shide.
Apart from the newly proposed fund, Ahmed said a significant amount of financial support is expected from development partners, especially the World Bank.
The rehabilitation effort is government-led, coordinated, programmed at all levels and will strive to bring a lasting solution, he added.
Rehabilitation Secretarial Executive Committee constitutes top officials of seven ministries and other relevant federal offices.
