Ethiopia Confirms 681 New Covid Cases, 6 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of Health has reported 681 infections of Covid-19 on Monday as Ethiopia’s active cases tally surpasses 19, 000.
A total of 6, 145 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the new positive cases, claims the ministry’s report.
Six Coronavirus-induced fatalities and 187 recoveries were also registered in the reportedperiod, bringing the death toll to 6, 872 and recoveries count to 351, 059.
The country now has 138 severely sick Covid-19 patients, whose number dropped by 12 as compared to the previous day.
The active case tally, on the other hand, is showing an increasing trend as the new daily infections continues to outnumber recoveries.
The ministry of health report puts the active cases figure at 19,123.
Health officials are currently carrying out a national vaccine drive as part of the national covid response.
More than 30, 200 doses of Covid vaccine have been offered to the public in the last twenty-four hours period, the report shows.
The figure has pushed the total doses administered in Ethiopia to more than 10.65 million.
The East African nation started providing the vaccine to the public on March 13, 2021. Since then, nearly 9.2 million Ethiopians have been fully vaccinated against the disease.
