Ethiopia Records 617 New Coronavirus Cases

ADDIS ABABA – The Covid-19 cases tally in Ethiopia exceeds 375, 000 after its Ministry of Health recorded 617 fresh infections on Friday.

The country conducted a total of 7, 488 tests in the past twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases, according to a health officials daily Covid-19 report.

Four more Coronavirus-induced deaths and 80 recoveries were also recorded in the reported period, pushing the death toll to 6, 859 and recoveries count to 350, 777.

At least 146 severely sick patients are now receiving medical treatments in hospitals nationwide, the report indicates.

The patients are among 17, 381 confirmed active cases nationwide.

The national vaccine drive which began on March 13, this year, has also continued today.

More than 53, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been offered to the public in the past twenty-four hours, according to today’s update.

This has pushed the total doses given nationwide so far to nearly 10.6 million and the fully vaccinated Ethiopians total to 9, 142, 809.
