Ethiopia Registers 126 New Covid Cases
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia registered 126 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the nationwide tally to 372, 588, said Ministry of health.
Eight new coronavirus-related deaths and 132 more recoveries were also reported, bringing the national death toll to 6,816 and total recoveries to 349,978, the ministry said.
As of Wednesday evening, the country has 15, 792 active cases, of whom 184 remained severe, it said.
Amid a national push for vaccination, Ethiopia has so far administered a total of 10,287, 037 COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Of these, more than 58, 800 doses were offered to the public on Wednesday, according to the ministry.
The East African nation started its citizens drive on March 13, 2021. Since then, more than 8.8 people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
The campaign, which is offering Johnson & Johnson, AstaraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines, plans to inoculate as many as 22 million people by January.
