Ethiopia Records 144 New Covid Cases, 7 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 144 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and seven-related fatalities on Saturday, reports its ministry of health.

The country tested a total of 6, 125 people in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the fresh positive cases.

A further 7 Coronavirus-related fatalities and 93 recoveries were also recorded in the same period, pushing the death toll to 6,794 and recoveries tally to 349, 557.



Currently, there are 15, 737 confirmed active cases in the country. At least 214 of them are seriously sick patients, the report claims.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus cases in March, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 372, 090 infections after conducting nearly 3.9 million tests.



Its health officials are still carrying out a nationwide vaccination campaign.

As of Saturday evening, a total of 9,993, 402 doses of Covid have been administered to the public.
At least 102, 000 of them were given in the last twenty-four hours, today’s report indicates.

The national vaccine drive began on March 13, 2021. To date, health officials have managed to fully inoculate 8.54 million against the virus.
