Ethiopia Reports 119 More Coronavirus Cases, 9 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 119 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections after testing 6,145 people on Saturday.

The newly recorded positive cases took the national confirmed case tally to 371, 117, according to a report the ministry of health issued for the day.

Additional 9 Coronavirus-related fatalities and 211 recoveries were also recorded in the same day, bringing the death toll to 6, 736 and recoveries count to 348, 299.

There are now 226 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving treatment in medical centers, the report claims. They are among 16, 140 active cases in the East African nation.

Health officials are stepping up their vaccine drive as they push ahead with their effort to attain the target to vaccinate about 22 million Ethiopians by January.

The country has so far provided close to 8.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens.

About 473, 246 of them were administered to the public nationwide on Saturday, data from the ministry shows.

The ongoing vaccination campaign, which started last March involving Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm, has fully immunized more than 7 million people.
