ADDIS ABABA – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) on Wednesday said it has prepared a tentative election calendar for voting in Benishangul-Gumuz regional State.
The 6th national Elections conducted in most parts of the country in two rounds as per the NEBE ’s calendars.
The board said it will now hold the elections in 17 constituencies of the western region of Ethiopia provided that the security requirements are met.
In a statement Wednesday, the board said the decision to hold the elections was made after several discussions its officials held with competing political parties as well as security and regional officials.
It also said parties that will participate in the election and other concerned bodies have already received the election calendar, that slated December 30 as voting day.
The Calendar gives participating parties eight weeks for campaigning starting from November 1 while setting aside five days from Dec 6 to 10 for voters’ registration.
It also indicates that preliminary results of the vote will be announced in five consecutive days starting from Dec 30, 2021.
The board will announce its final results of the election on January 10, 2022, as per the calendar.
