CORONAVIRUS: Impossible to Hold Election 2020 on Schedule, rules voting body

ADDIS ABABA – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) announced today that it can not hold this year’s general elections as per scheduled due to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Board has also said it has canceled the time table set to hold the election.



“After conducting a detailed assessment of the impact COVID-19 would have on its operation, NEBE decided to cancel the current electoral calendar,” it said.

The Board has also suspended elections operations of the coming national elections planned to be conducted in August 2020.
