COVID-19: Ethiopia Reports 1, 134 New Infections

ADDIS ABABA – A total of 1, 134 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday, bringing the national confirmed infections tally in Ethiopia to 351, 338.

The country conducted more than 9, 200 tests in the last twenty-four to confirm the positive cases, revealed the ministry Health’s Covid-19 report for the day.

The national death toll also reached 5, 843 after 32 patients died due to the acute respiratory disease in the day.

Ethiopia now has 765 severely sick patients getting treatment in intensive care units. These patients are among the 26, 597 confirmed active cases, the report reveals.

As many as 889 patients also recovered from Covid-19, bringing the recovery count to 318, 896.

The country is currently carrying out a national vaccination campaign as part of its response to control the spread of the virus.

More than 38, 100 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in the last 24-hours, data from the ministry reveals.

Ethiopia started inoculating its citizens on March 13, 2021.

To date, close to 2.92 million people have been vaccinated against the virus while the total doses administered in the nation surpassed 3.8 million.
