Ethiopia Reports 1, 410 New Covid-19 Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 410 new Covid-19 infections on Friday, pushing the confirmed count to more than 347, 000, according to the ministry of health.

The country tested at least 10, 752 people to identify the new positive case in the past twenty-four hours, indicates the Covid-19 report issued by the ministry on Friday.

Additional 48 people have also passed away due to the acute respiratory disease caused by Coronavirus in the same period, pushing the national death toll to 5, 630.



There are now 802 critically ill patients receiving medical treatment in the ICU, reveals the report that puts the active case tally at 27, 437.

It also says a total of 1, 209 patients have recuperated from the disease in the same period. This has brought the total recovery tally to a little over 314, 000.

To date, the East African nation has identified a total of 347, 084 infections after conducting more than 3.48 million tests.

Health officials are urging the public to continue to wear face masks, practice social distancing and proper hand washing as confirmed case and death toll tallies continue to rise.

The country is currently carrying out a national vaccination campaign making Covid-19 vaccine available in several health centers.

Nearly 11, 500 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been offered to the public in the last 24-hours, according to today’s report.

The ongoing vaccination drive started on March 13, 2021. To date, the country has inoculated close to 2.86 million people against the Virus.
