Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 1, 352 New Cases, 48 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of Health said it has recorded 1, 352 more Covid-19 cases and 48 related fatalities in Ethiopia on Thursday.

The country confirmed the new positive cases after conducting 10, 226 tests in the last twenty-four, according today’s Covid-19 report.



The death toll has also reached 5, 582 after 48 patients succumbed to the disease in the reported period.

There are now 790 severely sick patients getting treatment in intensive care units, reports the ministry, which puts the active case count at 27, 284.

More than 2. 000 patients have also recovered from the acute respiratory disease, pushing the recovery toll to 312, 608, reveals the report.

Ethiopia confirmed its first case on March 13, last year. Since then, it has recorded more than 345, 674 infections out of nearly 3.5 million tests conducted.

As the number of cases and fatalities increase, health officials are urging the public to wear face masks, practice social distancing and proper hand-washing as well as taking Covid-19 vaccines.

A total of 43, 675 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the past 24-hours, shows the report.

Ethiopia started inoculating the public on March 13, 2021. To date, it has vaccinated over 2.85 million people against the virus.
