State Council of Amhara Elects Dr. Yilkal Kefale to Lead Region

ADDIS ABABA – Dr. Yilikal Kefale Assres has been elected to serve as president of the Amhara region by its State Council.

The State council started its meeting earlier today by approving Fantu Tesfaye and Amare Sete as its speaker and deputy speaker of the house, respectively.

The council went on to choose Dr. Yilikal as governor of the region after he was proposed by the ruling Prosperity Party.

Dr. Yilkal previously served as head of the education bureau of Amhara regional state and deputy dean of Debre Markos University.
