Council Elects Desta Lodamo as President of Sidama Region

ADDIS ABABA – Sidama Regional State Council has elected Desta Lodamo on Thursday as head of the state .

Desta was sworn in as the new governor of the region in the council’s first meeting being held in Hawassa city.

He has been serving as President of the new Sidama Region since the inauguration of the state earlier last year.

Sidama was previously a part of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples´Region (SNNPR) with Zonal Administration level. It has become Ethiopia´s 10th regional state in a referendum conducted on November, 2019.
